SFC ROY MITCHELL

Mission Accomplished on March 13, 2010

On the day before Thanksgiving in 2003, on his second deployment to Afghanistan, Army Sergeant First Class Roy Mitchell was serving with the 10th Mountain Division with the vehicle he was riding in hit an anti-tank mine along the Pakistani border. The insurgents had armed the device to detonate on the third strike, and Mitchell was in the third vehicle to run over it.
