T’was the Night Before Christmas – Homes For Our Troops Rendition
T’was the night before Christmas and all over the land,
Things at Homes For Our Troops were going better than planned.
Phones were ringing off the hook with generous supporters on the line,
Hoping to make a difference one Veteran at a time.
Specially adapted homes were being built all over the nation,
Thanks in part to our donors, corporate partners, and several foundations.
With 81 projects underway in the north, south, east, and west,
Our construction team’s barely had a minute to rest.
When what to their wondering eyes did appear,
A sleigh full of building permits to make their holiday cheer!
In other parts of the country,, things were merry and bright,
As over 170 HFOT babies were lovingly tucked in and kissed goodnight.
While they dreamt of Santa and presents all the while,
Having full access to their rooms at night made their parents smile.
No more stairs! No more thresholds! They all shouted with glee,
Thanks to their homes from HFOT, they’ve enjoyed full mobility.
As magical as Santa, these homes allow recovery and healing,
You just can’t beat that HFOT home for Christmas feeling!
But how has the magic of HFOT really come to be?
Not from Santa’s flying reindeer, but our dedicated team of 63!
Serving in gratitude for the freedoms they enjoy every day,
Freedoms that our Veterans fought to protect in the most selfless way.
But reflecting on all the homes and dreams we’ve built in 2018,
We know we couldn’t have done any of it without you on our team.
And for this Holiday Season, soon coming up on our 15th year,
We want you to know we sincerely thank you for always being there.
