SPC Eric Jordan

Fairplay, CO

Mission Accomplished on August 3, 2024

Both of Eric Jordan’s grandfathers served in the military, inspiring him to follow in their footsteps. Following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, he enlisted in the Army as an Infantryman.

On November 11, 2004, Army SPC Jordan’s vehicle drove over an improvised explosive device (IED) in Ramadi, Iraq. The blast resulted in severe injuries, including spinal cord injury (SCI), paraplegia, and tinnitus. Stateside, Eric was transported to Walter Reed Medical Center for treatment before transferring to the Tampa VA for additional rehabilitation and therapy.

Now medically retired, Eric leads an active outdoor lifestyle and enjoys spending time with his wife, Stephanie. In his former non-adapted home, Eric was unable to maneuver from room to room in his wheelchair.

Recipients of a specially adapted custom HFOT home, Eric and Stephanie are able to save time in their daily routines in the single-level, open floor plan. In addition to having access to the entire home from his wheelchair, the roll-under countertops and cabinets in the kitchen allow Eric to prepare meals safely.

Originally from Florida, Eric chose to build his home in Colorado to be close to his medical team and friends.

Eric is thankful to HFOT donors and supporters for the life-changing gift of an accessible home. “It’s hard to put a value on regaining independence. The gift of a home is beyond what I can put into words. My wife and I can have a quality of life that has been out of reach for some time.”
