SSG Pascual Delgado

El Paso, TX

In 2003, inspired to protect his country after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Pascual Delgado enlisted in the Army.

On his second combat deployment from 2008 to 2009, Staff Sergeant Delgado served as a Power Generation Equipment Repairer in Iraq with the 2nd Squadron, 7th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division. Within a year of completing his deployment, Pascual experienced vision loss and neurological issues that impacted his mobility. In 2014, after numerous exams and tests, he was diagnosed with Service-Connected Multiple Sclerosis (MS), a condition attributed to frequent exposure to burn pits during his service in Iraq.  

Pascual is the proud father of four sons, Sebastian, Diego, Angelo, and Lukas. He worked as an Army career counselor and is an avid baker. His current home, which he shares with his mother and caregiver, Connie, is small and inaccessible, making it difficult for Pascual to navigate from room to room in his wheelchair.

A specially adapted custom HFOT home with a single-level, open layout will give Pascual the ability to access every room of the home in his wheelchair. The roll-in shower eliminates the risk of slipping on a wet floor, while the digital temperature controls in the two HVAC zones will allow him to regulate heat sensitivity issues related to his condition. The mortgage-free home will also give Pascual the freedom to focus on his work in the mental health field and complete his college degree.

Pascual is choosing to remain in Texas, where he grew up.
