Army CPT Christian “Chris” Fierro

In 2004, drawn by the honor of serving his country, Chris Fierro graduated from West Point and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Army.

On August 16, 2006, First Lieutenant Fierro was serving as a Field Artillery officer with the 4th Battalion, 27th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division in Baghdad, Iraq, when he suffered a gunshot wound to the leg.

He was airlifted to Balad before transferring to Landstuhl, Germany for surgery. Stateside, he underwent nearly two years of limb salvage surgeries in multiple hospitals, ultimately leading to the below-the-knee amputation of his left leg. Chris medically retired from the Army in 2009.

Chris and his wife, Jessica, are proud parents to Laci and Lena. They enjoy hiking in the vast areas of Central Texas.

Originally from Texas, Chris is choosing to remain in his home state.
