Army SPC Adam Morris
Titusville, FL
Interested in pursuing a career in the military, Adam Morris joined the Army in 2005 as an infantryman.
On August 27, 2007, Specialist Morris was serving with the 4th Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division in Iraq when he was struck in the hip by a sniper bullet while standing on top of a Stryker vehicle, causing him to fall into the driver’s hatch. He sustained sudden temporary waist-down paralysis, extensive internal injuries, and traumatic brain injury (TBI).
He was medically evacuated to Landstuhl, Germany, before transferring stateside to the Madigan Army Medical Center on Joint Base Lewis-McChord near Seattle. Through extensive rehabilitation, SPC Morris regained the use of his right leg and tried for several years to recover the use of his left leg before undergoing an above-the-knee amputation.
Adam and his wife, Jessica, are proud parents to Trever, Travis, Paige, and Haylee. They are active in their local church and enjoy watching their children participate in sports.
Originally from Pennsylvania, Adam is choosing to build his home in Florida because of the warm climate and sense of community.
