The members of the River Chase Veterans Association (RCVA) in New Braunfels, Texas have been loyal supporters of Homes For Our Troops for years, lending assistance with build events in the San Antonio area, and holding fundraisers to support severely injured Veterans. To honor past and present Veterans, the group created a Veterans Park and Garden in New Braunfels, Texas.
The Park, which features eight monuments with tribute benches recognizing America’s military, is designed to memorialize our nation’s most significant military conflicts, says New Braunfels RCVA President Jim Black. The group is establishing an educational program with guided tours for grades K-12. “Our purpose is to plant the seed, or reinforce the already existing feeling of patriotism, and to provide them with the background they may or may not have learned in school,” Jim says.
HFOT Executive Director Bill Ivey recently toured The Park while he was in town to kick off another adapted home. “This is a unique and fitting park to honor America’s Veterans. We appreciate the commitment RCVA has, not only for our Veterans, but also to educating the community and the next generation about the sacrifices our Veterans have made to preserve our freedom and our way of life,” he says.
